Hand Procedures

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a medical condition due to compression of the median nerve as it travels through the wrist causing pain, numbness and tingling, in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and the thumb side of the ring fingers.

CMC Arthritis

Thumb arthritis is common with aging, and occurs when cartilage wears away from the ends of the bones that form your thumb joint — also known as the carpometacarpal (CMC) joint.

De Quervain’s Tendinitis

De Quervain’s disease is a painful inflammation of tendons in the thumb that extend to the wrist. The swollen tendons and their coverings rub against the narrow tunnel through which they pass. That causes pain at the base of the thumb and into the lower arm.

Flexor Tendon Injuries

A deep cut on the palm side of your fingers, hand, wrist, or forearm can damage your flexor tendons, which are the tissues that help control movement in your hand. A flexor tendon injury can make it impossible to bend your fingers or thumb.

Ganglion Cyst of the Wrist

A ganglion cyst is a tumor or swelling on top of a joint or the covering of a tendon (tissue that connects muscle to bone). It looks like a sac of liquid (cyst). Inside the cyst is a thick, sticky, clear, colorless, jellylike material. Depending on the size, cysts may feel firm or spongy.

Trigger Finger

Trigger finger is a painful condition that causes the fingers or thumb to catch or lock when bent. Trigger finger happens when tendons in the finger or thumb become inflamed.
